Firstly it helps if you read the test instructions correctly to begin with. Seems I was reading the syringe the wrong way around when in came to Mg, Alk and Ca.

Mg-1260
Alk-6.7
Ca-390

Nitrates are still higher than I would like at 2.5.

Also took a trip to Vebas on Saturday and picked up a Strom and two peppermint shrimp.

The shrimp went straight into hiding so hopefully soon the will attack the aiptasia I have. The Strom though is an eating machine. I am worried he is going to run out of food soon. He has cleaned up my sand bed and has taken to climbing my back wall that is covered in hair algae( I didn't see it do it but can tell by the clean trail up the wall) then tonight I caught him climbing my live rock and then falling off.

This is just before he fell.

So the Tank has been running for about 6 weeks now and I pretty much think cycling has been and gone.

I saw on here the other day that someone was selling a small piece of a Pink Tip BTA so I went and grabbed it.

I know they are notorious walkers so I placed it in a spot I hoped it wouldnt move from and so far so good :crossfingers: it hasn't moved.

Image

Latest test results are:

Temp 25
NO3 2.5
pH 8
Alk 5.4 ?? (previous weeks test was 6.7 so I cant work out why the big drop)
Salinity 1.026
Ca 370
Mg 1200

If i make it to the MASWA meet on Wednesday night at Vebas, I might pick myself up my first fish. Would love to get either a Firefish Goby, a Bicolour Blenny or a couple of clowns. It will all depend on what they have and if I can get there.

My Strom is a cleaning machine and well I dont really see my peppies much but I have seen both ( I caught a glimpse of a rare moment they were together) so I know they are still around.

So far so good! :crossfingers:

It has settled in a spot and hasnt moved since. Have started to target feed it every 3 days.

Took a trip to LFS yesterday and picked up a Bi-colour Blenny and a small hammer that has green stems and the top is pink.

Will post pics tonight when I get home from work.

Tried to get a shot of the BiColour but he is a little shy atm so hopefully he gets used to me and will become less shy.

Here is a pic of of the Hammer I got, forgot to ask what type it is so an ID would be great.

Current FTS

Is anyone able to ID the flouro green thing growing on the rock in on the left? When I first got the rock it had little to no colour and now it glows in the dark when I just have the blues on.

It's a sad afternoon.

Came home today and couldn't find my blenny so I thought he was just hiding.

Looked everywhere in the tank to no avail.

Looked on the floor next to the tank and he has jumped out during the day and has gone to fishy heaven.

Guess I will be building a cover when I get back from Bali next week.

He was just starting to show personality too. :( :(

Got home today after 4 days in Bali and tank was fine which was to be expected givenI only had coral in the tank.

Decided to take a trip to LFS and got two clowns and a dome coral which is orange and the tenticles are blue/purple though it doesnt really show it in the photo.

Daughter instantly named them Nemo and Marlin of course..

I think after xmas I will go and get another Blenny as he mowed through my aglae..

apologies for the photo, they just wouldnt sit still!!

was having trouble with the focus on my SLR

Current FTS - my BTA has moved up more so I am guessing it wanted more light so I may look at my light cycle.

Try lowering the po4 and no3 and you'll see less algae growth and better polyp extension. Also feed your anemone more.. To bring its colour back.. It seems to have lost a good amount of Zooanthelle.. Also I would raise calcium to around 450..Alk 7-8 and mag 1300-1400

So it's been a long time since I have updated my journal so I thought now would be a good time.

The nem I had was getting too big so it has been moved on and I am moving towards a SPS dominated tank.

Added 4 new frags on the weekend being birdsnest, hairy stag, pocci and a pink lemonade frag thanks to Notsomot.

Nitrates a 0.5 and phos at 0.05.

I am not too sure if my light has the power for SPS so I will keep an eye on everything.

I am trying to convince the better half to let me upgrade to a 2ft cube.

Current FTS using iPhone so it's not that great a quality

So yesterday was both a sad and exciting day as this tank got closed down and my 2ft cube is now up and running.
