Hi all

I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on the new
Mic mol aqua mini Colour led light fixture

I've spoken to mic mol directly and the new models come with the programmable led screen
Features very similar to the Ecotech radion.
Lighting, cloud, sun rise, sun set etc...

There priced at $199.95 USD
And $20USD delivery.

Par ratings are pretty good.
Price is excellent.
Looks like an apple device!

I've got my order in.
For my 24L nano
And I think it may be a little bit of overkill
But what do you guys think :))

Looks very neat. Be good to see how well it performs. :)

What will it be lighting? LPS, SPS, MIxed?

Ahh lighting LPS, softies, mushrooms, Zooanthids. May... Try hardy sps if it goes well.
Since the apogee is so high at 10cm below the surface.

I wonder how one of these would go on my aquanano 40. Hmmmmm I was looking at the razor mini. Tagging along on this I think.

Hey I had one of these which I won in a competition. Although they look cool, mine had problems right from the start with the touch buttons not working properly, and then within a month it stopped working. Naqua replaced it with a really cool Led system which doesn't look as good but works much better and much brighter.

By all means try them- when they work they work amazingly! But just be warned when they fail they really fail!

Ps- pretty sure they have mounted the system in a Apple Mac mini unit. It's an interesting design and does look funky.

There is a picture of the light in my tank journal (in the 100l nano section) before I had to replace it. It lights a 2.5 tank with a central bommy or would be ok for a 2ft with wider rock design.

Yeah Gen 1 stuff (which I am assuming it is) is usually flawed (waits for the flaming) so I think reading your troubles has confirmed that I will stick to my original idea of the maxspect razor nano.

They have released a Gen 2 with a digital display and timer functions which mine did not have. I dunno, i personally am very happy with my replacement unit but the Micmol sure was spunky and potentially very good (several design issues have been corrected in the new model).

I believe Naqua sells them pretty reasonable price- and no postage.

I've seen them advertised Gen 1 from $129 in one of the QLD suppliers. Not sure what the Gen 2 go for.

The Apple Mac of nano lights....

If they can sort out the issues I think these lights will take off

You say that as a joke. But they are actually EXACTLY HOW APPLE WOULD PRODUCE AN LED LIGHT. They are in an aluminium box and it has every thing except the apple logo on it- seriously I don't think it's a coincidence. I reckon they got them from the supplier for apple or something.

But yes, if all the glitches are fixed I would +++ recommend. Super funky. I went for the different light because a) the new one wasn't released at the time i needed it replaced and b) my new one has 9 timer settings and was a little larger. Other wise, they have SO much potential. Especially the new model that can be linked together and suspended as a double unit.

I am going to contact them today to see if there is anyone on the west coast that will be stocking these as I want to see one in the flesh before committing to purchasing one. I want to see how hard they are to program, if they are height adjustable.

The colour one looks like to one to choose to offer a full spectrum of light.

My experience- No they are not height adjustable on the existing stand unless they have changed it. It also can't be put on a tank with an edging rim for lids (another reason why it was not suitable for my tank).

Programming I cannot comment on. Why don't you give Naqua (Peter?) a call and find out whether he has the new model and whether he has tried programming it.

PS- The intruction booklet was rubbish. I just had to press buttons until I figured it out- which is really hard when the buttons dont work.

Am talking to one of the sellers of this product but they dont have the new versions in stock yet.

Think I will take a punt and try one of the colour ones when they come available.

I don't know why some people haven't received them?
Maybe dodgy suppliers I think.

Lights
Hanging kit

I'll take some pics tomorrow for you. My nano is the aquaone 40 as well so it'll give you a fair idea. The gen 2's look to be the go. I'm going to get one and swap the gen 1 onto my QT.

The Aqua Pro comes out next month and that's really well price to

Mike.

Thanks Mike.

Yeah the Pro looks just as good. Though its for bigger tanks obviously.

Will be great to see what it looks like on your aquanano.

Please bare in mind these are iPhone 4S photos so not amazing...
Still adjusting the spectrums :)
If ur not a fan of the pink shades I'd keep the special leds
On low at ur highest part of the day at say 005% max otherwise it gets very pink with the white
