Majestic Angel died

Postby Robbie_Tee » Fri 10 Mar, 2017 10:12 pm

Hey All,

Kind of new to this question so hoping someone can help out.

I had a beautiful Majestic Angel that died a few days ago and I for the life can't work out why. Maybe it was just it's time.

But I did notice that a piece of one of my Starfish's leg had been removed and was siting some distance from the Starfish. I'm thinking perhaps the Angel took a bite and was perhaps poisoned from the Star?

If I had to describe the Star it look like a Red Sea Star.

Could a nibble off one of they stars have killied my Angel?

Cheers

Robbie

Hi Robbie, :wavey:

No idea about cause of death, other than it's unlikely the seastar was the cause. Fromia species are really challenging to keep in the long haul. When they begin to die they often start by disintegrating, losing an arm etc..

Sorry for your loss, how long did you have the angel for?

Best I can offer is the fact that Ich is to Tangs as Bacterial Infections are to Angels.

Have you introduced any new livestock? What quarantine? How long have you had the angel?

Hi Addee & Pebbles

I have had the current population in the tank for 2 years. Nothing new had been introduced since then.

As for the age of the Angel i had it for 2 years, how old it was at the time of purchase well that's anyone's guess.

I was pretty devastated to say the least it was an amazing looking fish.

Thanks for the info, very much appreciated. :)

Sounds odd. Only other things I can think of are:
What water do you use? ASW or NSW? If NSW you *might* have picked something up that caused an issue. (maybe. not likely.)

It's a hard one to diagnose. For all we know it could have been someone spraying fly-spray too near to the tank and the angel didn't make it.

Could just have been bad luck.

Sounds like you've done all the right things and something 'bad happened'(tm).
