Leopard Wrasse + Calgrit?

Postby 555combo » Mon 23 May, 2016 5:02 pm

I would love to get a leopard wrasse but I am afraid that my 'sand' bed will hurt them. I have about 3cm of calgrit. Is the calgrit going to be too rough? is 3cm deep enough?

Anyone had a leopard wrasse and calgrit before?
Cheers,
Aaron.

Completely forgot about this post. Got a Black Leopard Wrasse about 6 weeks ago. Macropharyngodon negrosensis.

Looks to be doing fine. Burried straight into the substrate when released into the tank and has been going in and out of it ever since. Goes around most of the day picking at the live rock, takes pellets and frozen so looks ok. fingers crossed!
Cheers,
Aaron.

Postby RichardGhval » Sat 03 Jun, 2017 11:40 am

Has anyone treated a leopard wrasse with copper in their QT? All i read is that they shouldnt be in copper.

I haven't, but a bit of reading would suggest that most wrasse seem to be sensitive to copper so may need to use hypo salinity to treat/QT.
Cheers,
Aaron.

I just picked up a juvenile Black Leopard too, didn't seem to have a problem with burrowing into the calgrit. How long did it initially take yours to come out of the sand?

A few days at least. Then only out for limited periods of time. Took a few months to be out most of the day.
Cheers,
Aaron.
