Wild or local Bangii Cardinals

Postby bushturkey » Fri 30 Oct, 2015 9:13 pm

Hi all,

I would like to get some Bangii Cardinals down the track for my tank.

viewtopic.php?f=148&t=260590

I think these guys look amazing and would be perfect with a couple of clownfish and maybe a blennie as well. I am really confused thou about whether to buy wild caught fish or breed ones. I live in Perth and a couple of the main shops have wild caught fish but everything online says they are not doing so well in wild. So are wild caught bangii cardinals ok? Or are they still endangered in the wild?

I really want to keep my tank as sustainable as possible and if there is a good locally breed option I would jump at it, but as all shops seem to stock wild fish I'm just not sure.

Thanks in advance for your response.

I've been on the lookout for captive-bred Banggais as well - mainly on the assumption that they would have been raised to accept pellets. Is this true and are there breeders in Sydney?

(I've had terrible luck trying to get wild caughts accepting pellets to the point where they are the only fish that required frozen.)

cheers
Tim
