Purple Tang Question

Postby Pagey » Fri 16 Oct, 2015 5:50 pm

So I have to opportunity to purchase a Purple Tang. Good looking specimen but it is quite large. I was hoping for a juvenile.

I just wanted to ask those with Purple Tang experience this question.

I understand that all fish do to some degree hassle new additions. Would you say that the purple tang is usually on the higher aggression side of the line or the lower when it comes to welcoming new friends?

Again I also understand various examples of the same species will act differently. Just weighing up this purple tang because if I purchase he/she it will be one of the first fish into the tank.! Don't want it to be a full on hassle to get more fish in there afterwards. Cheers!

What other Tangs have you got already?

Purple Tangs have a reputation for being pretty tough cookies and probably should be one of the last fish introduced.

Having said that they will probably only take issue with other Tangs.

Rod.

Mine has been great, even when i added a powder brown after him there was no fighting what so ever, he does touch new additions either, really peaceful guy. As i scrap the glass clean he swims nearby and eats the algae, can even pet him sometimes.
