Same thing you're using the brown gutterguard for, to help prevent fishes and snails entering the weir. I've used brown before, but I think black looks better. You get a huge roll of it for five or six bucks at bunnings, enough to do a thousand weirs I'd reckon.

If Roald wants to call em flowers then they're flowers John, and get it through your head. hehehehehehe lucky you know I'm just being smart.
Flowers are cool though, that's exactly what the polyps on a stylo look like though =)

Hey Kirsty, sorry... haven't been around much lately!

I have been meaning to post an update, but I was waiting for the cyano outbreak to calm down (which it has now... mostly).

Looking at my old pics, I've had some decent growth on most corals, and I'll post some pics later this weekend or early next week.

Ok, so I decided it was time to come clean on my promise.

Here are some pics I took yesterday. Please forgive the algae, my tank is still recovering from a very very bad cyano outbreak :konk:

Also... why do pictures never do my tank justice?

Anyway, hope you enjoy

Another accro care of mgrav. Looking at previous pics, the growth on this one has been huge.

Yet another accro from mgrav. The growth on this one has been steady, and recently it's been 'bleuing up' a bit.

Not an exciting zoa, but I wanted to show the huge growth on this one when compared to previous pics

Star coral next to another accro from mgrav :). The accro in the pic is starting to get some green colouration.

Hope grazing on algae amongst another softie that grew from the LR. Can anyone ID the softie?

Correct me if am wrong but your softy is a Goniapora.

Usually sold as a 'golf ball' coral.

Wow, can't believe how much stuff you have which has "just grown from the live rock" :roflmao:. Gotta love freebies, and some of them are pretty good ones too!

Tank is looking excellent, you make me want a 2ft cube even more, this is very nice. You're doing things right by the look of it, those acros are growing very nicely...

Thanks for the ID Ben_Q :)

And thanks for the encouragement Lukey :) I too am continually amazed about the corals that seem to grow out of nowhere.

Now... if only I could get a blue monti digitata to pop up out of nowhere.... :pirate:

Re: Ares' 2x2x2 Updated 17 Janaury 2010 - new pics

Well, this tank is finally going down.

Moving in two weeks, and there is no way I need the stress of trying to carry some livestock over. Tank has been cared for in a less than optimal way recently, so it'll be good to start over.

I've learnt quite a lot over the last couple of years, and I'll be doing things a little better on the new set-up. So, this tank will be going down in the next week or two, and starting up again in the new year.

Ciao for now!
