Hey all

So i started to run this journal on a cube i started earlier this year.. I have since moved on and sold all the occupants, however the comment keep flowing so i open this "now pointless journal" towards the peoples choice so to speak... a discussion on cruelty to fish!!

enjoy, hopefully something interesting and knowledgeable comes from it..

so thats the sump i finally put together. This same sump glass that i cut myself came very close to severing my thumb. I was home alone at the time and could not leave for the hospital as i could not leave the tank not flowing. For that i copped a decent scar

Yep its cold up here.. i have found however that 2x 300w heaters have kept her at a stable 24c.. The next thing on the list is to completly seal the outside sump..but i have to finish the hood doors first..

The wooden bar bench going around the tank is red ceder that my girlfriend found in her grandfathers shed that estimated at 25yrs old..very lucky find
he found them floating down the hunter river..awesome timber, there is nothing better to work with than a fine cut of timber.. makes you appreciate the hours of sanding and design.

Just a quick Question. What thickness is that 2ft cube made out of and does it have bracing?

From the pics it looks like about 6mm glass with no bracing, maybe the pics dont show the tank correctly?

it is a 2.5ft cube euro braced right across the very top..in fact the lids sit 4-5mm off the water level..which leaves the weir that much room to drain...it is a custom built cube i brought of a fellow member.. i forget who he was but geez he certainly must of owned Auto-cad because he designed it to the mm..

The glass thickness is 12mm and bracing 6mm

Thought the pics must have been a bit decieving otherwise I was thinking you must have had a lot of faith in the glass :)
