funkngroovy's 500mm cube journal, back in Black

The purpose of this forum is to allow people to showcase their tanks, and allow other uses to ask questions on equipment, livestock, methodology etc.
Specifically for Diverse Tanks (Cubes, Squares, Triangular) (Fish Only with Live Rock, Predator Tanks, Temperate Tanks) (non-photosynthetic tanks, Marine Plant/Algae Tanks, Greenhouse Tanks)

I noticed your weir had a lot of detritas build-up before the full syphon went in. Has this improved? Did you have nitrate issues before? I suspect with the full syphon now drawing water right through your weir things will improve in general. That muck was probably causing you grief. Is your skimmer up to the task?

I thought durso was always discussed with a full syphon in the threads I saw?? :wall:

I don't actually have the skimmer hooked up yet becuase the skimmer outlet is lower than the top of my sump. I need to see what I can do about that, otherwise I will leave it until I move in a few months and sort it out then.

Nitrates were around 10, now they are between 0 and 5. I think this is mostly due to increasing my DSB and taking a few steps back.

I removed my fish a few months back. This allowedmy my tank to get really stable and I am getting great coral growth now even as I start to add more fish again. The tank is only really starting to mature now after setting it up how I want over the last few months.
