How long can captiv phos W last in a reactor? How often should it be changed out?

Best Answer is to continue to test your Po4 levels and if they creep up its a good indication (if all else is equal) its time to replace.
I like the Captiv PhosW its a great economical product

Reef•Basis - Captiv Phos W is a supreme quality, spherical white proprietary filtration medium particularly selected for sensitive aquarium environments. It is designed to remove free phosphates and silicates that can act a fertilizer for unwanted algae or diatoms, directly from the water. It will not kill algae and does not contain any algaecides. It is safe for all marine and freshwater life.

Thank you for your reply aqua blue, i undestand what you have stated before but im just trying to get my head around how it compares to Rowa phos in absortion of phos. What i mean bu that is can we know if it ansorbs more or less than Rowa phos? Also the question of it being based on aluminium is a valid one. I am running it in a Vertrx reactor and would like to know if the agitation of the grains (sphears) would provoque any tipe od degeneration of the product?
Sorry to be getting sonindepth with my questions but i REALLY REALLY like the concept behind the product and just want to make sure of things to look for (beaides testing).

I have not seen a standards test of Phosphate media in some time. Last one I saw TLF Phosban was the winner however this was well before Continuum even existed. The whole thing ended up in legal threats so don't want to drag it up again for the authors.
I use Captiv Phos W personally and don't have issues with the media breaking up in a TLF 550 Reactor. Any sort of granular media is dangerous to over agitate so don't recommend that.
If you have a look at the recommended dosage on each product you can make your own mind up from there.
Its hard for me to compare products we import.
