Al you are a bloody legend mate.

I have seen what Al is doing in the flesh and it is amazing and
all in his garage along with the lawnmower and whipper snippers!.

No laboratory here.

Put your name down early for these when they come on to the market as based on
the quality of the broodstock used they will be awesome.

Dave

I finally read it all on the FB page and read around.
I am so envious, and you did it all in your backyard too. Amazing. Keen to see them hit the market.

thanks guys, i expect to have at least 20 thousand maxima and squamosa spat by this time next year.

acro was a walk in the park compared to this, i nearly gave up twice, it was pretty hard. 50,000 litres of water so far.

Just going through the hurdles with the government before i can sell them. the plan long term is for aquaculture of all 7 available species.

dont buy clams for a while..... save your money.... ;)

Wow that's alot of clams! That's an amazing goal a hope you achieve it and I will save my penny's mate.

Squamosa
Gigas
Maxima
Crocea
Deresa

That's five so what are the other two species? Hippopus? Surely not Devora?

Al got still hasnt got his license and I was lucky enough to tag along with some other MASWA guys to Al's place and check out his setup.

Most people on here won't be old (senile) enough to remember those old black n white movies where the diver in the big round brass helmet risked getting his arm/leg caught in giant clam, since joining the hobby I thought clams that big were just the result of movie makers and old seadogs stretching the story of the size for dramatic effect.

I was wrong.

Think something big enough to fit a 2-3yr old child in! :o :o :o :o

His success rates are getting better, and he has learnt a lot from some daft things he did along the way.

Have a look at his FB page https://www.facebook.com/Acroalperth

Thats awesome news - I asked because I noted that on his FB page that he had a website. http://www.acroal.com.au/ on the site there seems to be categories, but alas no clams to speak of yet :(
